Flower Mound Youth Sports Association
"All Star Experience" Fact
Sheet
Consistent
with previous years, FMYSA has started offering a new level of baseball;, “will again sanction "All-StarAA Tournament Teams"” for seasonal
summer play. after the conclusion of our regular
season and any City Championship tournament or similar activities. FMYSA only attempts to provide
the All-StarAA
experience for age groups 98U
through 13/14U. FMYSA will not attemptbe able to provide an All-StarAA Team(s) for any age group where their
isn’t sufficient interest players or coaches.no coach volunteers to coach an All-StarAA team.
The All StarAll-StarAA
Experience:
All-StarAA tTournament Teams
participate in a more competitive environment than regular FMYSA recreational
league play. These teams will play both
a home and away schedule. begin play after the conclusion of the
FMYSA season and generally participate in tournaments in neighboring
communities as well as state and national eventsAway games will be in surrounding communities.
The purpose of this Fact Sheet is to provide more information about the "All-StarAA Tournament Team"
process to the parents of all FMYSA participants so you can decide if your
child should be considered for the All StarAll-StarAA
Experience.
“Parent Action Required “
If your child is going to participate in the All StarAll-StarAA
experience, please print and complete the forms in the “All-StarAA Team Parent Packet”
and turn them in at the registration area of your scheduled tryout location.
The Process:
First, the FMYSA board determines the maximum number of All-StarAA Teams we will have for each age
group. The number of teams is based on the number of regular season teams, the
level of interest among our parents,
and players,
through our coaches,
league directors,
and the FMYSA
administration’s
a general
assessment of the overall league talent for each age group.
League talent is an important consideration because of the more extremely competitive
nature of AAtTournament
play.
League
coaches are asked to provide a list of players from their
teams who are interested in All-StarAAsfrom their respective team to their Age
Group Directorby April 23rd. We ask coaches to encourage their more
skilled and experienced players to try out
for All-StarAAs, provided the parents of that player
have not informed their coach that their son/daughter does not want to
participate in the All-StarAA experience.
Each team’s interested pPlayer list for each team isare to be provided to the respective
FMYSA League Director. The Director then compiles a master list of all interested players by player name, team name,
player’s jersey number, and coach’s skill assessment. This
master list is then provided to each All- Star head coach for that age group. All- Star coaches are encouraged to watch
games of other teams in their league and become familiar with ALL players that
have been submitted.
On the dates
listed below all All-StarAA team coache’s will hold tryouts in order to
fill their rosters. Tryouts are open to all players in their age group provided they played in that
recreational league. Once a player completes the
tryout process they must declare their eligibility to the respective coach
prior to leaving the tryout. Once named
to a roster,
the player cannot participate on another FMYSA
Tournament All-StarAA team. wwithout written approval by the V.P. of
Baseball.

BBased on many variables including
data collected by each All StarAll-StarAA
coach while viewing games, player rankings during tryouts, and the needs of the team, ability to participate in events on specific dates (see tentative schedule below) the the coach will select his All-StarAA
11 or 12 player
roster.
If a player is not selected on a
the Premier All StarAll-StarAA
team, he can choose
to play in the FMYSA recreational
programtryout for
the Local All StarAll-StarAA team(s) if the age group offers those
opportunities. FMYSA encourages ALL players to try and reach
their All Star goals by doing just that.

The
Schedule:
Practices can begin as soon as the All StarAll-StarAA
coach submits his roster to the V.P. of Baseball, but all players and coaches must meet
their recreational team commitments if any conflicts exist..
Possible

All-Star Team nominations & Coach’s applications due from coaches to
directors

June 20- June 22 -State Qualifier
June 27- June 30 -North Zone State
Tournament **
July World Series
**
** Teams must qualify to play in these tournaments
The Commitment:
Because of the competition at this level, All-StarAA tTournament Teams
may often have
two to three events each week outside
of gamesin
preparation for tournament play.
On days the
team is not playing in a tournament, you should assume the team would
practice. This can create a problem if the
player will be out of town or otherwise regularly
unavailable
for more than a few days during weekly games and practicesthis period.
To be fair to the team and the players, parents should carefully consider the
necessary commitment before allowing their child to participate on an All-StarAA Tournament tTeam. If a parent is
concerned about the commitment level, they are encouraged to contact the
coaches for their age group for more information.
Parents should also be aware there is no mandatory or
equal playing time requirement on the AATournament tTeams.
Once
qualifying play begins, you must qualify to advance to the next tournament. As
such, coaches are trying to field the most competitive team possible.
The Costs:
Outside of the FMYSA registration fee that each AA player
is responsible for, All StarAll-StarAA
teams are self-funded. Any tT (tournament fee’s outside of the normal seasonal games,
gate fee’sfees,
uniforms, equipment, etc.) , are the responsibility of the team.
These fees vary depending on uniform styles and quantity of tournaments the
team chooses to participate in. Parents or can anticipate minimum cost of $250.00 per player for; not the team to participate in all events listed on the above
tentative schedule not including travel, food, or or lodging. Typically fall seasons will have fewer tournaments and
costs than spring seasons.
FMYSA will furnish standard
catchers equipment, 5 batting helmets, and onetwo- dozen
baseballs to each Premier All StarAll-StarAA
team and one dozen baseballs to each Local All Star team.
In addition, FMYSA will purchase new uniforms
($300.00 maximum) for any team finishing in the top 4 of its State Tournament
and participating in its National tournament..
